TTNQ's 'GUARDIAN OF THE REEF INITIATIVE' PUTS SOUTHERN GREAT BARRIER REEF OPERATORS ON THE GLOBAL STAGE

The newly launched Guardian of the Reef campaign by Tourism Tropical North Queensland and Expedia is putting eco-certified operators from the Southern Great Barrier Reef on a global stage.

The international campaign markets reef-friendly travel by educating tourists on sustainable practices and connecting them with businesses committed to preserving Australia’s natural wonder.

Developed with input from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Guardian of the Reef features a series of educational content that informs travellers about the environmental and cultural significance of the reef to Australia’s First Nation Peoples.

With the message "See it. Love it. Protect it," the campaign illustrates how eco-certified businesses play a leading role in preserving the Great Barrier Reef for future generations.

As more travellers seek eco-friendly options, the Guardian of the Reef campaign positions the Southern Great Barrier Reef as a top destination for responsible tourism.

Leading Southern Great Barrier Reef operators, including Lady Musgrave Experience, are featured in the Guardian of the Reef campaign for their eco-certification through Ecotourism Australia. This recognition assures international travellers that they are supporting businesses with a strong conservation ethos.

Increased visibility benefits the entire of the Southern Great Barrier Reef region, attracting travellers who prioritise sustainability and conservation in their adventure endeavours.

With funding from the Australian Government’s International Tourism Recovery Fund, the Guardian of the Reef initiative reinforces the role of eco-certified operators in the Southern Great Barrier Reef in preservation and conservation efforts, while delivering world-class, environmentally responsible experiences to the world.
