Bundaberg welcomed Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk this week, who announced from Mon Repos Turtle Centre that Queensland will shine in the first national tourism campaigns in more than 18 months.
Two national campaigns, worth $5.2million, will air which are expected to drive 25.7 million visitor nights and $4.0 billion Overnight Visitor Expenditure for Queensland between February to June 2022.
Sunday 13 February will see the commencement of The Great Queensland Getaway campaign, a retail sales campaign with airfares and holiday packages on sale through Queensland.com for all Australians and incredible competition prizes up for grabs. The campaign was launched in Queensland in 2021 with great success, generating $11.3 million in bookings, and creating 310,000 industry leads, 24,265 room nights and 19,483 airline seats sold.
Already launched in New South Wales and Victoria on 30 January is the Days Like This aspirational campaign, which first launched in Queensland in June 2021. The campaign celebrates the incredible diversity of destinations and focuses on holiday moments that are joyful, drive emotional connections and celebrate the simple pleasures in life.
Bundaberg’s tourism industry are already involved in the campaign, with discounts offered on trips to Lady Musgrave Island, free nights in some of our most popular accommodation, and two-for-one tours and reduced prices at some of our iconic attractions on offer.
Also being planned is a Good to Go campaign which will extend internationally as two-way travel continues to open up, with a strong conversion focus, aiming to drive short- and medium-term bookings for Queensland’s tourism and events industry while showing that Queensland is safe, clean and accommodating if travel plans need to change.
Pre COVID-19, Bundaberg’s tourism industry injected $507 million in visitor expenditure into the region’s economy each year, supporting 5,200 tourism jobs. The Queensland tourism industry was a $28 billion industry and directly and indirectly employed 234,000 Queenslanders.
How To Get Involved
All Queensland based tourism operators (tours, accommodation, dining and events) are encouraged to participate in the Great Queensland Getaway campaign which aims to drive bookings for operators through February – June 2022.
All bookable tourism operators can take part and there is no charge to participate, you just need to have a great deal on offer.
Simply load a deal or offer into your free ATDW listing, which will then appear on both Queensland.com and bundabergregion.org. Support is available for anyone not yet in ATDW, or who needs assistance in loading a deal.
