Every year, visitors from throughout Australia and beyond (pre COVID of course!) make their way to our backyard, to swim alongside our marine life at sun-kissed coral reefs, to witness a miracle on the shores of our famous Mon Repos, to experience our year-round abundant produce, and to sip award-winning drinks made by our brewers, crafters and distillers.
The tourism industry of the Bundaberg Region is made up of hard-working people motivated to create memorable experiences for our guests, while making a difference for our community and the broader regional economy.
Here at Bundaberg Tourism, working with the support of the Bundaberg Regional Council and the state’s official tourism body, Tourism and Events Queensland, we are charged with marketing the region, delivering visitor services, giving a voice to the local tourism community, and supporting the industry in providing extraordinary visitor experiences at every turn. We are proud to have been partnering with our industry to raise the profile of the Bundaberg region as a desirable destination for nearly 50 years.
In our region, we are lucky to have such an exceptional group of tourism businesses working together to build a strong destination presence and resilient local tourism economy. Together, last year, we welcomed over 1.7 million visitors to our region, who injected $507 million into our local businesses and economy. That’s more than 1 million dollars of NEW money into our community every day, supporting many industries across the region. With over 5000 local jobs supported by tourism in the Bundaberg Region, tourism is a big part of what makes the Bundaberg region tick.
This column in an opportunity to bring you on the journey with us and our passionate industry, as we continue to grow the tourism industry and inspire visitors. We look forward to coming to you weekly with news about our tourism industry, our key target markets for the region and why, updates on our visitation driving projects and some tips for you to help influence the visitor experience in our region.
Remember, tourism is everybody’s business!
