From the CEO

Dear Tourism friends and supporters,

I hope you had a safe and happy Easter and had an opportunity to find the silver lining in these strange times.  Many tourism industry colleagues I’ve talked to this week have spoken about the chance, for the first time in their working careers, to have an Easter long weekend at home with their loved ones instead of working.  So whatever you did, I hope that you found some happiness in the moments.

Our team have been focused on gathering information to understand the needs of our industry and business community so that we are able to support and provide resources where needed.  We’ve been ensuring that we distil accurate and up to date information, and to be the spreader of good news and stories of community innovation, compassion and pride.  And I’m incredibly impressed of the way our team has transitioned into working from home and supporting tourism and the business community in different ways.  To do this, we’ve been working really closely with different organisations that support the region, including Bundaberg Regional Council, Bundaberg Business Enterprise Centre and the Bundaberg Region Chamber of Commerce. Sharing information, opportunities and challenges, trying to manage the risk for our community and economy, looking to pull in all relevant resources available and to work together as a united force for the region.

Team Bundaberg was strong before this crisis, and we’re going to come out the other side stronger, as we imagine a future better than what we had before, for our community, our environment, our industry and our way of life.

If you’re like us and meeting up over virtual platforms our team has whipped up these beautiful destination backgrounds that you can download for your meetings.

The Federal and State Governments and Bundaberg Regional Council have announced multiple packages to help businesses financially.  Our team continue to collate these on our website and are updating daily to assist you.  Remember, you’re not in this alone, we are a phone call or an email away if you need any help understanding them, or just want to have a chat.

When regional restrictions are lifted and we’ll be welcoming visitors again, we know that we’ll be competing with the rest of Australia for the domestic dollar, we need everyone’s help to build positivity and spread the good news stories, to drive destination awareness and visitation to the Bundaberg region, to stimulate the visitor economy that benefits so many areas of the region.  To show your support for the Bundaberg region, the business community and the collective efforts of Team Bundaberg, you could be sharing from our social media channels, onto your own, with your business audiences, families and friends.  With daily inspirational content being published on Visit Bundaberg and Bundaberg Tourism.

Keep connecting and stay safe,

Katherine
