BUNDABERG SET TO FEEL THE BEAT DURING REGIONAL FIRST ACCESSIBLE EVENT

Bundaberg Tourism, in collaboration with Bundaberg Regional Council, is proud to present an immersive sensory experience as part of the Great Australian Bites celebrations at Nielson Beach on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

With support from the Queensland Government Department of Tourism and Sport’s Year of Accessible Tourism Elevate Fund, this event puts accessibility and inclusion at the forefront, offering an inspiring and engaging experience for attendees of all abilities.

As a key milestone in Bundaberg’s journey toward building a legacy of accessible and inclusive events ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this event highlights the region’s commitment to creating a welcoming destination for everyone.

Complementing a jam-packed program, the inclusive Feel The Beat experience by Party Higher, is an interactive sensory showcase designed to deliver a fun and immersive silent disco. Using innovative haptic vest technology, the experience aims to champion inclusivity and reduce barriers for people living with disabilities, allowing guests to be fully immersed in the Great Australian Bites experience through feeling the pulsing vibrations of the acts which take centre stage on the day.

“Accessibility is about more than just meeting a standard; it’s about ensuring every individual feels included and valued,” said Katherine Reid, CEO of Bundaberg Tourism.

“This event shows how Bundaberg is creating fun and accessible experiences for everyone. We’re excited to invite the community to join us and celebrate this inclusive event together,”

The initiative underscores the vital role events play in fostering collaboration, learning, and community connection. By going beyond traditional accessibility measures, such as ramps, Bundaberg Tourism demonstrates how thoughtful planning can deliver enriching experiences for all participants.

Locals and visitors alike are invited to celebrate inclusivity and enjoy the innovative Feel The Beat showcase at the Great Australian Bites event this weekend. Let’s create a future where everyone feels welcome and included.

Enhanced tourism accessibility and experiences are the core of Bundaberg Tourism’s Inclusive Tourism Legacy Building project, a successful applicant of the Queensland Governments $5 million Accessible Tourism Elevate Fund, an initiative under the Year of Accessible Tourism supporting the Queensland tourism industry to promote Queensland as the world’s all-abilities destination of choice.

In addition to hosting the event as included as part of this project, Bundaberg Tourism will deliver a series of FREE workshops throughout February to support businesses and community event organizers in enhancing their accessibility knowledge. Delivered online by accessibility consultants GetAboutAble, the five-module series will equip participants with practical tools to create inclusive events.
