PLAY

Reconnecting with self and refueling your soul takes time and an escape where little distractions can be found among the sun-soaked waters of the Southern Great Barrier Reef is one dose of vitamin sea we highly recommend. Spend a day marveling at healthy reef and plankton rich waters on a day trip to southern coral cays, Lady Musgrave Island or Lady Elliot Island, and swim alongside curious turtles, majestic manta rays, tropical fish and during July-November, juvenille humpback whales. One of the greatest natural wonders of the world, be enraptured by these breathtaking experiences which help you dive deeper into understanding the reef, how to preserve it and leaving you with life long memories and stonger appreciation for this unique part of our backyard.

With the reef just a stones throw away, our region is blessed with pristine white sandy beaches and reefs within reach. Offering ample space for you to stretch along and where nothing but the sound of the waves as they meet the sand, park yourself along Elliott Heads foreshore or the 16km stretch of Woodgate Beach in the South or Moore Park Beach in the North for some coastal relaxation. Renowned for being Bundaberg's equivalent to Whitehaven Beach with its sweeping sands at the mouth of the Elliott River, Elliott Heads offers something for everyone. From the calmer waters of the river, to kitesurfing the waves along Elliott Heads Beach, and discovering marine-filled rock pools that dot the shoreline at low tide, you can choose your level of adventure on the water. The quiet and coastal townships of Moore Park Beach and Woodgate Beach are our regions lesser known gems and are prime locations for you to dip your toes in the sand, enjoy a walk along the shore and enjoy some of the most striking sunsets ever to be seen (though we may be a tad biased, we'll let the photos below speak for themselves).

Rejuvenate among the surrounds of a sandstone wilderness and striking landscapes of the North Burnett, home to some of the regions most picturesque hikes that are definitely worth the trek. Lace up your hiking boots, leave the wifi behind and road trip your way to Mt Walsh National Park or Cania Gorge National Park. Here you'll find a trail fit for the hiking enthusiasts and those who love soaking up the scenery with a moderate hike.
