10 Local Spots for a Beautiful Instagram Feed

Come explore our beautiful region, take stunning images for your Instagram and remember to #visitbundaberg for your chance to be featured on our Instagram and Facebook channels.

1. Windmill Café Bargara

Nestled a block from the beach sits the picturesque Windmill Café Bargara, appropriately named as the café is situated in and around a beautifully refurbished blue windmill with peaceful gardens. Enjoy incredible coffee, delicious dishes made from fresh, locally-sourced produce, or stop in for homemade gelato (they even have a doggy gelato for your four-legged friends). Snap some foodie shots or get a photo in their Insta-frame and #thewindmillbargara

2. Amandine Lavender

Nothing says 'influencer' quite like standing amongst a bunch of lavender. Head to Amandine Lavender in Bargara, stroll through the fragrant purple flowers and you can even pick a bunch for free! Pro tip: large wide brim straw hats and flowy white lace summer dresses are an essential.

3. Lady Elliot Island

The first island on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, the awe-worthy Lady Elliot Island looks just as good in person as it does in the pictures flooding your Instagram. Whether you're exploring the island, swimming with manta rays or enjoying a drink with your sunset, there is a photo to take. Acceptable Insta photos include: Sunset and wine glass, manta ray swimming action shot, and 'hot dog legs'.

4. Alowishus

Probably the queen of the Insta world in Bundaberg, Alowishus's Insta-game has been rivalled by very few. Enjoy delicious food (including everyone's favourite; all day breakfast) in the trendy Earls Court with a classic menu to please even the fussiest of eaters, mouth-watering homemade gelato, decadent gelato thick shakes, quirky table numbers and even a white brick wall to grab that perfect OOTD shot.

5. Lady Musgrave Island

If you're looking for that quintessential, jealousy-inducing underwater shot than Lady Musgrave Island is a must. With its crystal-clear waters, beautiful coral cay island, and friendly turtles not only will a turtle selfie be one of your most 'liked' photos, but you will be itching to go back again and again.

6. Vintners Secret Vineyard

Enjoy locally made wine in the storybook town of Childers at Vintners Secret Vineyard. Sip your Rose among the vineyards, get the girls together for a relaxing high-tea and wine-tasting, and keep your eyes peeled for their delicious lunches and entertaining events on throughout the year. Photo tips: your friends will think you're in the Barossa as you sip your Chardonnay with the vineyard backdrop or let your free spirit run wild on the swing.

7. Bundaberg Rum

Just in case you want to make it more obvious you are in Bundaberg, make a visit to the award-winning Bundaberg Rum Distillery. Discover the story behind Australia's most iconic rum on a museum and distillery tour before enjoying a tasting. Grab a photo in front of the big Bundaberg Rum bottle or do something a little different and get some action shots of you blending your own rum in the Barrel House in the 'Blend Your Own Rum Experience'.

8. Beautiful Beaches

If there's one thing we are short on it's NOT beaches. From Baffle Creek to Woodgate Beach there is a secluded beach, a wave to catch or sandcastle waiting to be built just minutes from you. Show off your bikini body in your next Instagram photo as you soak up the sun or (if you're like us and you've got a little extra winter padding you're not quite ready to introduce to the world) set up a beautiful picnic and capture a gorgeous sunset.

9. Massive Murals

We don't have GOMA or the Louvre, but we do have some pretty cool murals out and about around town. Check out the #tastebundaberg mural beside a local craft beer brewery where you can stop for lunch, see if you can spot the 'whale wall' or one of our newest murals, the turtle mural at Hinkler Shopping Centre.

10. Stunning Views

Looking to burn off all those lazy breakfasts and show off your #adventurous side? Explore our National Parks and hike to stunning views for that classic 'ponder-life-on-top-of-a-mountain' photo. Wake up early (yes, no sleep in this time) to watch the sunrise over the region. Spend your day exploring the sandstone wilderness of Cania Gorge National Park or cooling off at the Utopia Rockpools.
