Description

Nestled on the banks of the Burnett River on Quay Street, Alexandra Park offers a playground for all ages under the shade of large Fig Trees. The kids can play on the playground or run in the large open spaces. The Rotunda gives the park an old-time feel. Keep an eye out for locals participating in yoga lessons or walking/running along the Riverside Walk. Alexandra Park is also home to our region’s Council operated zoo. The zoo was established in 1911 and is one of Queensland’s oldest continuously running zoological facilities.

Today, the zoo is home to a compact menagerie featuring exhibits with pint-size monkeys, dingoes, lizards, snakes, birds and more!

It is accredited under the Zoo and Aquarium Australia’s (ZAA) Five Domains Model which demonstrates a commitment to positive animal welfare.

The Zoo is open from Wednesday to Sunday 9.30 am - 4.30 pm. During the Queensland school holidays the zoo is open seven days a week. The Zoo is closed on ANZAC Day and Christmas Day. Entry is free. No pets allowed. Free entry.
